Introducing "...droplets / dropar..." – our coffee table book
Dear friends!
I'm excited to share some fantastic news with you. Over the past few years, my dear friend and bandmate, Dánjal á Neystabø, and I (Kim Rafael Nyberg) have been on a creative journey that has blossomed into something extraordinary. What started as a musical collaboration for our album "...eftir" evolved into a deep exploration of the stories, memories, and emotions tied to the Faroe Islands and Færingehavn.
As we worked on the album's themes more deeply, we encountered stories and anecdotes that enhanced our understanding and inspired us. One connection led to another, and before long, we were collecting stories, conducting interviews and uncovering the fascinating history of Færingehavn. The project continued to expand, and instead of just creating a simple booklet to accompany the album, we wanted to develop something more substantial.
So here we go! We’re proud to announce that we've compiled all of this into a 212-page coffee table book titled "...droplets / dropar...". It's beautifully laid out with plenty of space, featuring captivating images, poems, recipes, and heartfelt stories. It reflects our journey with the album - a blend of personal reflections and artistic expressions that delve into themes of resilience, community, and the connection between people and the sea.
At the heart of the book lies Færingehavn, a remote fishing harbor in Greenland where generations of Faroese fishermen - including Dánjal's late grandfather - braved the icy waters to provide for their families. Through collected anecdotes from these seafarers, letters from loved ones on distant shores, and the touching voice of Abbi (grandfather) himself, the book paints a vivid portrait of resilience, longing, and the quiet heroism found in everyday life.
Working closely with Dánjal on this project has (again) been an inspiring experience. Usually we’re working on music, but this time our collaboration allowed us to explore other sides of working together and bring forth a project that resonates on both a personal and collective level. The process of creating "...droplets / dropar..." has been a big undertaking and has been hard at times, but most of the time just extremely rewarding.
"...droplets / dropar..." will be published by Spotin and will be available in shops across the Faroe Islands and at our shows. You can also purchase it directly from our homepage. We're hopeful that it will find its way into select shops elsewhere as well. (Hint: If you have a place and would like to carry a few copies for sale, please let us know!)
This project is incredibly close to our hearts. It's a tribute to a generation that valued presence and community—a time when life moved at a slower, more deliberate pace. We hope that as you open the book at any random place, you'll feel some of the same inspiration that we did while creating it.
