…eftir is out!

It’s a big day here in Klingra land! Our debut album …eftir is out today on all platforms.

…eftir was recorded in the Faroe Islands and is an album about being left, as well as a desire to create a calm space in these fragmented times.

…eftir and sets the scene by the west coast of Greenland in 1956, on the harbour Nordafar (short for Norway/Denmark/Faroe Islands). A fishing port where Faroese fishermen, who had been forced out of their local waters by German and English trawlers, went to try their luck. A tough life far from home.

On the album, we’re using using field recordings from one of these men recorded shortly before his passing many years later. Here the old Faroese fisherman, Dánjal’s late grandfather, affectively tells about an accident resulting in 14 deaths, where some died drowning and others froze to death.

The loneliness and longing in these vast Nordic landscapes is interpreted through both the music and the Faroese lyrics. Melodies rise from the dark waters and the music balances on the dusky borderline between classical and popular music. Tied together by subtle electronic elements, we set out to integrate a broad palette of acoustic and electronic sounds in our six-piece band line-up into something which could be described as “indie-classical”.

…eftir is not an album of mourn nor grief, but of love, thankfulness and the admiration of people who put others first. You will live in memory forever.

We’re really proud of this work and hope that we’ll be able to reach the audience that appreciate this kind of music with its long cinematic forms and lush arrangements. Give it a listen and another and another and feel free to share it generously if you like it!

Takk!!
